Paralympics Closing Ceremony
After a successful audition to be park of an aerial hoop ensemble, I was thrilled to take part once again in a stadium show, this time for the Paralympics.
We worked in collaboration with Kim Gavin, who directed the event, to realise his vision for our part in the spectacle. Katharine Arnold choreographed the routine, and it involved flying 20 aerialists in from 45 metres above the stadium, into a group around the stage where Coldplay were performing. Set to the track ‘Paradise’, we performed elegant spinning synchronised movement, and for the finale had large pyrotechnics shooting out of the top of the hoop!
And best of all, we got to come back into the stadium for a dance at the end, and watched the fireworks amongst the paralympians from all around the world. What a priveledge!
